Five Killed in Kraków Shooting; Suspect Hospitalized
A gunman opened fire from a car in Kraków’s Main Market Square on Saturday afternoon, striking people at random and sending crowds fleeing into nearby businesses. Polish police later reported five people killed and about a dozen injured, including police officers; earlier reports gave lower death tolls. Police said the suspected attacker was shot during the response and taken to hospital. Emergency crews remained at the scene, and Prime Minister Donald Tusk said police were investigating the circumstances of the attack.
