Police Arrest Suspect in Fatal Waikiki Assault

Honolulu police are seeking the public’s help identifying a suspect in a fatal assault and backpack theft outside a Pearl Kai shopping center on Nov. 4. The 47-year-old victim collapsed after the attack and later died at a hospital; investigators are treating the case as manslaughter. In a separate Waikiki case, police arrested a 44-year-old man on suspicion of second-degree murder after a 67-year-old man died from injuries sustained in an Oct. 1 assault on Saratoga Road. Prosecutors will review that case to determine whether charges will be filed.
