World Bank Mobilizes Record $112B Private Capital
The World Bank Group said it mobilized a record $112 billion in private capital for developing economies in fiscal 2026, more than three times the $35 billion recorded in fiscal 2022. Combined with its own financing, the Group provided or mobilized more than $200 billion during the year. Mobilization rose across income groups, reaching $37 billion in lower-middle-income countries and $50 billion in upper-middle-income countries, while remaining roughly $3 billion in low-income countries. Africa’s share increased nearly 150 percent over four years, from about $9 billion to $22 billion. The World Bank attributed the gains to streamlined cooperation between its public- and private-sector arms, integrated country strategies, expanded financial tools and more than $25 billion in guarantees. President Ajay Banga said the institution is seeking to attract larger pools of institutional investment to help fund development needs including energy, health care, education and agriculture.
