Xbox PC backward compatibility expands to Windows 11
Microsoft is launching Xbox Backward Compatibility on PC, starting with four original Xbox titles—Blinx: The Time Sweeper, Conker: Live and Reloaded, Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge, and Fuzion Frenzy—that run natively on Windows 11 PCs and supported handhelds, with licensing carrying over from Xbox. The games will feature improvements such as up to 4x resolution upscaling, VSync, customizable graphics settings, anti-aliasing, and language options, with Achievements planned for a later date. Each title can be purchased individually for $9.99 or accessed at no extra cost via Xbox Game Pass, and players who own the games on console will not need to repurchase for PC. The program is framed as preserving Xbox’s legacy and expanding cross-platform access, signaling a shift toward deeper PC/Xbox integration aligned with Project Helix. Hardware requirements are modest, targeting Windows 11 with GPUs like GTX 950 or RX 550 and at least a four-core CPU, indicating broad compatibility with older systems and handhelds such as the ROG Xbox Ally X. While the rollout is in early release and limited to four titles for now, Microsoft says more games and features will follow.
