YMCAs Promote Healthy Aging Through Community Events
YMCAs in New York and Florida are marking healthy-aging events with activities intended to keep people active, informed and socially connected. Programs include fitness classes such as Pilates, barre, swimming, pickleball and chair yoga, alongside cooking demonstrations, art, technology help and social activities. Educational sessions cover topics including brain health, Medicare, hearing loss, fall prevention and retirement planning. Several events also connect older adults, caregivers and families with community services, including Medicare counseling and local assistance. Organizers emphasize that healthy aging involves maintaining well-being and connection at every stage of life, not only for seniors.
