Young Children Die in Separate Water Incidents
Authorities are investigating the deaths of several young children found in or near water. In South Carolina, an autopsy of 5-year-old Saylor Hayes, who disappeared during a family vacation, found fluid in her lungs, but officials have not determined how she died. In Iowa, a 2-year-old girl died after apparently falling into an outdoor pool in Scott County and remaining submerged for an unknown period before relatives found her and began resuscitation efforts. In Uttar Pradesh, India, a 2½-year-old boy who went missing from his grandparents’ village was found dead in a pond after a 21-hour search, and police have ordered a postmortem while investigating the circumstances.
