Zach Ertz wipes away tears with family on Eagles return at Soldier Field

Zach Ertz wiped away tears as he embraced his wife Julie and one of their sons during pregame warmups at Soldier Field, his mother Lisa there with them.

The reunion happened Monday night, September 28, 2026, before the Eagles-Bears game, his first appearance in a Philadelphia uniform since he last played for the team on Oct. 14, 2021. After a trade to Arizona later that month and time with Washington, the Eagles signed him to the practice squad the prior Tuesday and elevated him once Dallas Goedert suffered an MCL sprain against Tennessee.

Ertz had spent more than eight seasons with Philadelphia, made three Pro Bowls, and caught the go-ahead touchdown in the Super Bowl LII win over New England.

John Clark shared video from the warmups and wrote, "What a moment. You can tell how much family, football, and the Eagles mean to Zach Ertz. He and his family are in tears as he returns to the Eagles tonight. Great moment with his young son, his wife Julie, and his mom, Lisa."

Jon Marks put it simply: "Zack Ertz coming back to the Eagles is great, but being able to share this moment with his son is AWESOME."
