Zahara Jolie Legally Drops Pitt Surname
A Los Angeles judge approved 21-year-old Zahara's petition changing her legal name from Zahara Marley Jolie-Pitt to Zahara Marley Jolie. With no objections filed, the decree was signed and filed. She filed in June and published notices weekly for four weeks in the Los Angeles Daily Journal in June and July. Attorney Peter Kenneth Levine appeared remotely before Judge Virginia Keeny at Stanley Mosk Courthouse. Zahara had used Zahara Marley Jolie at her Alpha Kappa Alpha induction in November 2023 and at her Spelman College graduation in May. Shiloh changed to Shiloh Jolie after petitioning on her 18th birthday in May 2024; Vivienne has also sought to drop the surname. Sources for both parents issued dueling statements. A Brad Pitt source said after years of legal battles he still is not ready to give up on his children but finds the name drops upsetting, and feels most hurt that his children do not want a public association with his last name. Another called it complete and total alienation and an effort to deflect attention from their ex's success, saying only one side has tried to weaponize the kids.
