Zheng Completes 0-5 Comeback Over Keys

Madison Keys suffered a stunning third-round exit at the 2026 US Open, losing to Zheng Qinwen 1-6, 7-6(3), 7-5 after building a 5-0 lead and holding match point in the deciding set. Zheng won the final seven games, completing one of the tournament’s most dramatic comebacks and denying Keys a fourth consecutive Grand Slam appearance in the round of 16. The defeat was especially painful because Keys had saved five match points to beat Anna Bondar in the previous round. Zheng, the Paris Olympic champion, has revived her season after injuries and a rankings drop forced her to qualify for the tournament; she now advances to face either Iga Swiatek or Marie Bouzkova.
