Zumiez Reports $2.7 Million Q2 Loss
Zumiez reported fiscal second-quarter sales of $209 million, down 2.5% from a year earlier, while comparable sales fell 2.1%. The retailer posted a net loss of $2.7 million, or $0.17 per share, missing analysts’ estimates, as weaker U.S. traffic and footwear demand outweighed growth in international markets. Six-month sales increased 0.9% to $402.3 million, and the company had $97.3 million in cash and marketable securities at the quarter’s end. Zumiez repurchased $23.2 million of its shares during the quarter. The company forecast third-quarter sales of $222 million to $226 million and earnings per share between zero and 10 cents, below some analyst expectations.
