South Carolina residents will have a new senator come January.

The Fox News Decision Desk has projected Democrat Annie Andrews topped Republican Sen.Darline Graham.

Poor turnout for Graham in conservative areas allowed Andrews to flip a state that hasn’t elected a Democratic senator for about 30 years.

Andrews is a pediatrician and former congressional candidate. She ran as an outsider and will become the first Democrat in nearly three decades to win a Senate election in South Carolina.

Two 11th-hour campaign trail stops by President Donald Trump weren't enough for Graham to be victorious.

"She’s smart and incredible. She’ll never let you down," Trump said about Graham at an Oct. 21 stop in Upstate South Carolina.
