Hunter Biden is defying a subpoena for a deposition, but he is not avoiding the U.S. Capitol.

On Wednesday, Hunter Biden, the son of President Joe Biden, stood outside the Capitol and offered to testify in House Republicans’ impeachment inquiry in a public hearing.

However, he refused to sit for a closed-door deposition.

Speaking outside the Capitol, Hunter Biden said, “I’m here today to make sure the House committees’ illegitimate investigations of my family do not proceed on distortions, manipulated evidence, and lies.”

“I’m also here today to correct how the MAGA Right has portrayed my for their political purposes. I am first and foremost a son, a father, a brother, and a husband from a loving and supportive family,” he continued.

The younger Biden went on to say he is “proud” of his legal and business careers and his “efforts to forge global business relationships.”

“For six years, MAGA Republicans — including members of the House committees who are in a close door session right now — have impugned my character, invaded my privacy, attacked my wife, my children, my family, and my friends. They’ve ridiculed my struggle with addiction, they belittled my recovery. And they have tried to dehumanize me, all to embarrass and damage my father,” he continued.

Turning to allegations the president benefited from his business dealings, Hunter Biden said, “Let me state as clearly as I can: My father was not financially involved in my business.”

He also took aim at Republicans leading the investigations into the Biden family as he claimed, “James Comer, Jim Jordan, Jason Smith, and their colleagues have distorted the facts.”

“There is no fairness or decency in what these Republicans are doing. They have lied over and over about every aspect of my personal and professional life,” he added.

His comments come as Republicans are expected to vote on a measure to formally launch an impeachment inquiry into the president.

Hunter Biden has said on an episode of the “Moby Pod” Republicans are trying to “kill” him hurt Joe Biden and destroy his presidency.
