While many speeches for the 2020 Democratic National Convention are taped video messages, former President Jimmy Carter praised presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden in an audio message on Tuesday evening.

“Joe has the experience, character and decency to bring us together and restore America’s greatness,” the former president said of Biden.

Carter continued with his praise of Biden, saying the former vice president is someone who is “honest,” “fair,” “committed,” and who has “integrity.”

He added, “Joe is that kind of leader, and he is the right person for this moment in our nation’s history.”

“During these uncertain times, Joe Biden realizes that many American lives can be saved each day with the use of masks and testing, as recommended by our medical experts.

Joe Biden must be our next president.”

Prior to his remarks, former First Lady Rosalynn Carter offered a few words.
