Alanis Morissette Accuses Former Tour Manager of Blackmail Campaign

Alanis Morissette is accusing a former tour manager of launching a "calculated blackmail campaign" against her, according to a lawsuit filed Tuesday.

According to Fox News, the "Ironic" singer sued Keren Urinov for civil extortion, fraud and negligent misrepresentation.

Morissette alleges that her former manager threatened to tell British authorities that Morissette was involved in drug trafficking unless she agreed to a lengthy employment arrangement and paid the manager, Urinov, substantial compensation.

The dispute stems from an incident at a U.K. airport in July 2025, when Morissette and her touring team were preparing to travel from Farnborough Airport to Spain for a concert.

According to the lawsuit, a British Border Force official stopped a bag for inspection and asked who owned it. Urinov allegedly said the bag belonged to her.

"At the airport, a British Border Force official flagged a bag for further inspection and asked who owned the bag. Urinov said the bag was hers," the documents stated.

The lawsuit alleges the bag contained marijuana and xylazine. Urinov reportedly showed officials an Israeli medical marijuana license before the bag was returned and she was released.

When the touring group returned to the U.K. the following day, Urinov was allegedly detained again and reaffirmed that the bag belonged to her.

Morissette claims the situation escalated after the tour ended, when Urinov and her attorney allegedly sent letters threatening legal action and a report to British authorities.

According to the documents, Urinov offered to "put ‘an end to the matter’" if Morissette agreed to employ her as a tour director for 15 years, with compensation comparable to a tour director's salary, including annual increases and bonuses.

Morissette also claims Urinov demanded help securing a U.S. work visa and additional compensation if the visa could not be obtained.

The singer rejected the arrangement, describing Urinov as a poor manager and accusing her of causing costly problems during the tour. The lawsuit claims an "inexplicable error" involving hotel bookings cost Morissette $70,000.

The documents also allege Urinov told members of Morissette's team that authorities in a Latin American country had previously arrested her and a friend for allegedly smuggling drugs in a surfboard. Urinov allegedly said she later fled the country after being released on bail.

Morissette is seeking a jury trial and compensatory damages "of an amount in excess of $75,000 in damages." The allegations in the lawsuit have not been established in court.
