Dolly Parton’s Walk of Fame Star Damaged Days After Country Icon’s Death

Dolly Parton’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame was vandalized with multiple scratches just days after the country music icon was laid to rest.

According to Fox News, a fan visiting the Los Angeles landmark reported the damage on social media and shared a photo showing apparent scratches on the star.

Ana Martinez, producer of the Hollywood Walk of Fame, confirmed the damage in a statement to the outlet.

“A fan went to the star yesterday and reported on social that the star was vandalized with many scratches. From the photo she posted, it does appear the star was vandalized with scratches,” Martinez said.

The damage came as the star was already undergoing scheduled maintenance.

Martinez said flowers that had been placed at Parton’s star were removed the morning before the vandalism was reported, as part of repair work arranged the previous week.

“The crew just completed the first part of making said repairs,” Martinez said. “The star repairs are currently ongoing and are done by the Hollywood Historic Trust, which maintains and repairs the Walk of Fame stars.”

Officials expect the repairs to be completed before the star is polished Friday. Fans will then be able to return to the site to pay tribute to Parton.

The vandalism follows Parton’s death at age 80. She died peacefully in Nashville, Tennessee, on Aug. 25, following a brief battle with cancer, according to a statement from her team.

Her family has continued to share memories of the singer following her burial.

Parton’s niece, Lainey Mae Parton, posted an emotional tribute describing her aunt as a constant source of encouragement.

“From the time I was little, my granny always had a way of making me feel like I was enough,” Lainey Mae wrote. “She never made my dreams feel too big or made me feel like I couldn’t do something.”

Lainey Mae also recalled how Parton financially supported her decision to attend beauty school and helped her begin her career.

“She didn’t just tell me to chase my dreams, she helped me get there,” she wrote.

She said she would miss Parton’s voice, laugh, and hugs.

“It still doesn’t feel real that she’s gone,” Lainey Mae wrote.

Parton’s career spanned music, film and philanthropy, with hits including “Jolene,” “9 to 5” and “I Will Always Love You.” Her Imagination Library also distributed hundreds of millions of books to children around the world.

“I feel incredibly lucky that I got to call her my granny,” Lainey Mae wrote. “Thank you for always believing in me, loving me, and making me feel like I could do anything.”
