Former Democratic Fundraiser Says Ashley Biden Threatened to Sue Her

Lindy Li, a former Democratic fundraiser who has publicly criticized the party’s handling of Joe Biden’s 2024 reelection campaign, says Ashley Biden threatened to sue her after she spoke about concerns surrounding her father’s condition and political future.
Li detailed the alleged confrontation in her upcoming book, "Unburdened," and told Fox News that Ashley Biden made the threat in an Instagram post in February 2025. Li said she later provided screenshots of the post to the outlet.
According to Li, the Instagram message accused her of lying and challenged her to proceed with a lawsuit. Li said the post was removed roughly a day later.
The dispute stems from Li’s claims that Democratic officials and political figures were aware of concerns about Biden’s age and declining abilities before he ultimately ended his 2024 reelection campaign. Those claims are part of Li’s account of her time as a fundraiser and donor liaison for Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.

Li said she had met Ashley Biden several times before the alleged Instagram exchange. She also showed Fox News Digital photographs of the two together, which she said contradicted Ashley Biden’s claim in the post that she did not know Li.
"They wanted to scare me. That was the goal," Li told Fox News Digital.
Li also described what she says happened to her politically after she began publicly questioning whether Biden should remain in the race. She said her access to the Biden administration and campaign network ended, including invitations to White House events that she previously received regularly.
"When I went on Shannon’s show to say Biden needs to step aside — and three hours later he did — my access immediately vanished," Li said.
Biden announced on July 21, 2024, that he was ending his reelection campaign and endorsed Harris for the Democratic nomination.
Li said she discussed the alleged lawsuit threat with her attorneys. According to her account, they believed litigation could force both sides to disclose additional information.
Ashley Biden has not filed a lawsuit against Li over the claims described in Li’s book and interview.
Li maintains that her statements were truthful and said she is still waiting to learn what specific comments she made that could form the basis of a defamation claim.
The allegations and Li’s characterization of events remain her account of the dispute.
