Las Vegas Man Accused of Killing Girlfriend and Her Two Children After Cheating Confession

A Las Vegas man is accused of killing his girlfriend and her two children after confronting her about an alleged affair, then telling police he “blacked out” before the shootings.

According to the New York Post, Juan Orona, 29, surrendered to police shortly after 7 p.m. Tuesday with a gunshot wound to his abdomen.

He told officers that he had shot his girlfriend, Nohani Flores-Osuna, and her two children, 16-year-old Maiya and Noah, who was in kindergarten.

According to an arrest report obtained by KLAS, Orona said he became suspicious after seeing Flores-Osuna’s vehicle near her former boyfriend’s car, identified in the report only as “Henry”.

Orona told police he confronted Flores-Osuna at the west Las Vegas apartment where he had been staying with the family. He said she admitted being unfaithful and told him her ex-boyfriend was “better in bed.”

Orona claimed he then “blacked out.” He said the next thing he remembered was being in the bathroom holding his 9mm Glock, with Flores-Osuna and the two children dead on the floor.

Officers went to the apartment in the 5100 block of O’Bannon Drive near Sahara Avenue and Decatur Boulevard after Orona reported the shooting. Police forced their way inside and found all three victims dead.

Orona reportedly said he remembered Flores-Osuna and the children either yelling at him or moving toward him during the blackout, but he could not explain what happened next. Police said he did not deny shooting them but could not say who he shot first or why.

Orona told dispatchers the gun was inside a backpack in his vehicle. He was taken to Sunrise Hospital for treatment. The arrest report did not state whether the injury was self-inflicted.

Orona had been dating Flores-Osuna for roughly three to six months and had helped pay the apartment rent. His father told police that Orona called him around 7 p.m. Tuesday and said he had hurt his girlfriend and her children.

The father and Orona’s brother then accompanied him when he surrendered to authorities. Orona reportedly told police he knew he needed to turn himself in and be held accountable.

Orona faces three counts of open murder with a deadly weapon and 10 counts of firing a gun into an occupied structure. A public defender asked Thursday for more time to review the case before a bail decision is made.

Orona remains in the Clark County Detention Center and is scheduled to return to court Sept. 9.
