A Pennsylvania mother is facing two homicide charges after police found her husband and 3-year-old son stabbed to death inside a Great Wolf Lodge room.
Metallica Rose Harrison, 27, of Towanda, was arrested after Pocono Township police responded to the resort in Scotrun shortly after 3 p.m. Monday, per Fox News.
According to a criminal complaint reviewed by the outlet, Harrison had contacted emergency dispatchers seeking help dying.
Officers arrived at room 2030 and found Harrison at the doorway with cuts on her wrists and puncture wounds around her neck. Investigators said she told them she wanted to be with her husband and son.
Inside the room, police discovered Charles Harrison with multiple stab wounds to his chest. Their 3-year-old son, identified by his initials in the complaint, was also found dead with what appeared to be a single stab wound to his chest.
Harrison was transported to St. Luke’s Hospital’s Monroe Campus in Stroudsburg for treatment. During the ambulance ride, she allegedly spoke about the family she had hoped to have.
“It wasn't supposed to end like this. I was supposed to have my happy family. That's what I envisioned since I was a child,” Harrison allegedly said.
She also told emergency responders that she worked every day to be “the best person, the best mother, the best wife,” according to the affidavit.
Investigators recovered two knives from the bathroom. One was a large kitchen knife found on the floor, while a smaller knife was located on the sink. Both reportedly had teal handles, and resort employees told investigators the knives were not among those supplied by the lodge.
Police also reported finding multiple medication bottles scattered throughout the room.
The family had checked into the resort Sept. 21 and later extended its stay through Oct. 13, according to information obtained from resort security.
Surveillance footage showed the three family members entering their room Sunday evening. Harrison and her husband later went to the resort arcade before returning to the room around 11:22 p.m., investigators said.
Monroe County District Attorney Michael Mancuso described the case as "disturbing reading" and said investigators were still working to establish what happened.
Great Wolf Lodge said it was “deeply saddened and heartbroken” by the deaths and is cooperating with authorities.
Police said the incident was an isolated domestic tragedy and that there was no continuing threat to the public. Mancuso also stressed that Harrison is presumed innocent unless prosecutors prove the charges beyond a reasonable doubt.
