An Oct. 15 Franklin County, Missouri, incident has everything: A bizarre urination habit, a shovel attack and a shot fired.
Police say that Ryan C. Madonna confronted a Beaufort, Missouri, homeowner, forcing his way into the man’s house in a confrontation over the man’s alleged habit of peeing off his back porch. Officers responded to a call about a burglary in progress, eventually arresting Madonna, according to a Facebook post by the Franklin County, Missouri, Sheriff’s Office.
“The victim stated that the suspect was beating on his door and when he opened it a male subject started to confront him about urinating in his yard. The suspect entered the residence and started to assault the victim, but the victim was able to push him back out the door,” the agency said. “Once outside, the suspect grabbed a shovel and started beating on the door until he broke through it. The suspect started swinging the shovel at the victim.”
“The victim was able to retrieve a firearm. The victim fired a shot between the suspect and the doorframe in an attempt to get the suspect to leave,” the sheriff’s office continued. “At this point, the suspect went outside the residence and used the shovel to shatter the rear windshield of the victim’s vehicle. The victim stated he did not know the suspect and had no prior contact with him. Evidence on the scene was consistent with the victim’s account of events.”
The incident was initiated when Madonna confronted the homeowner for urinating from their back porch, KCRG-TV, a Missouri TV station, reported. Madonna’s 13-year-old stepdaughter was reportedly walking by when the victim allegedly urinated on his back yard from the porch, according to KJLU-FM, a local radio station.
Madonna was charged with burglary, assault and property damage, and is being held on a $75,000 cash bond.
“It was an intentional warning shot and I was peeing in my own yard. Lol,” a Facebook user named Michael Anderson commented on the post by the sheriff’s office. “The suspect was intoxicated and has done the same thing prior to other neighbors. I work, raise my son and keep to myself but that doesn’t always mean there won’t be morons out there.”
