How Liberals ‘Save Democracy’: The Warsaw Coup And US Midterms

When globalist liberals scream that conservatives pose a threat to democratic norms, the independence of the judiciary, and the rule of law, pay close attention. It is almost always a confession of what they plan to do the moment they seize power.
Over the last 48 hours in Warsaw, they have shown exactly how it’s done, violently overthrowing the country’s top judges, who have been appointed in full accordance with the Polish constitution.
Brussels poster-boy, Prime Minister Donald Tusk deployed riot police to surround Poland’s Constitutional Tribunal. Inside the building, government-backed judges attempted to forcibly oust the court’s chief justice, Bogdan Święczkowski, and his vice president.
*The judge who declared herself head of the Tribunal, Anna Korwin-Piotrowska, never had her oath accepted by the President. Neither the president nor the chief justice recognises her. That is the attempted coup.*
Chains were cut, official access was revoked, the tribunal’s website was compromised, and police cordons blocked opposition lawmakers and protesting citizens from entering the premises.
The power grab was so sudden and violent that Polish President Karol Nawrocki -who was mid-flight over Spain on an official state visit to Senegal- was forced to order his aircraft to turn around mid-air, rushing back to the capital to confront what opposition leaders are openly calling a constitutional coup d’état.
By early Saturday morning, Nawrocki was inside the court building, warning the nation that Poland’s constitutional order had been fundamentally violated.
Two of Tusk’s own coalition partners, the PSL and Poland 2050, sat down with the President on Saturday.
And what was Donald Tusk’s public defense for sending police forces to lock down the nation’s highest court? He took to social media to declare that breaking into the judiciary was merely “restoring the rule of law” and “correcting the lawlessness of past governments.”
It is the exact same Orwellian justification every left-wing authoritarian uses when they decide to purge their political opponents: We have to destroy the constitution to save it.
This morning, Święczkowski stood at the gate of his own court and was again refused entry. The judge who replaced him is already preparing disciplinary panels against him and his deputy. She has convened a general assembly for Tuesday, which the legitimate judges say they will boycott. Poland is heading toward two rival Constitutional Tribunals.
His justice minister is moving against the chief justice’s immunity and openly hoping prosecutors will go after the president himself. Meanwhile protesters have kept filling the streets outside the Tribunal, and Tusk’s answer has been to press ahead.
Where is Ursula von der Leyen? Where are the European Commission commissars who spent nearly a decade screaming about “threats to democracy” whenever Polish conservatives passed judicial reform?
They are either completely silent, or cheering the coup -actually rubbing their hands in delight.
When conservative governments enact legal reforms through parliament, Brussels freezes state funding and declares an existential crisis. But when a pro-EU liberal sends riot police to seize the high court, Brussels cuts the cheques, endorses the purge, and calls it democratic progress.
