Nearly one in three of voters in the 2026 midterm elections said they did not know enough about the Make America Healthy Again movement to support it or not — and most of them backed Democrats, exit polls show.
After the massive Democratic victories across the country during a cycle where healthcare was a major issue, MAHA is experiencing a reckoning after a combined seven in ten voters either said they did not support the movement or did not know enough about it to make a determination.
Thirty-one percent of midterm voters said they did not know enough information to say whether they supported the MAHA movement or not according to an exit poll released by NBC News after the 2026 midterms concluded. Of this group, 54 percent voted for Democratic candidates and 43 percent supported Republicans.
Meanwhile, 40% of voters said they were not supporters of MAHA and of this cohort, 87% backed Democrats and only 12% backed Republicans, per the exit poll. Only 29% voters said they considered themselves MAHA supporters and of this minority, 86% cast their ballots for Republicans and 13% voted for Democrats.
MAHA Action endorsed two dozen candidates as part of their movement and spent the final days leading up to the election campaigning in Iowa for Republican gubernatorial nominee Zach Lahn.
Yet as of Friday, only one third of — 8 of the 24 — candidates MAHA Action endorsed in the general election won their races, according to the Associated Press.
The MAHA-endorsed Lahn — who won his June GOP primary in a major upset after heavily campaigning on the movement — lost the Iowa gubernatorial race to Democrat Rob Sand, who took 55 percent of the vote.
A whopping 85% of voters stated that they were concerned about healthcare costs with respect to their personal financial situation — and 60% of them voted for Democrats at the midterms, the same exit poll found.
In May, the Daily Caller News Foundation obtained a secret poll that a pollster close to President Donald Trump conducted finding that 73 percent of voters expressed concern about childhood vaccine mandates and that 90 percent expressed concern about the pharmaceutical industry’s corrupting influence — both key tenets of the MAHA movement. However, the poll never saw the light of day and the administration instead appeared to pivot away from the movement’s priorities.
