Young men voted for Democrats Tuesday by a 17-point margin after backing President Donald Trump in 2024.
Fifty-eight percent of men ages 18 to 29 voted for Democrats, while 38% voted for Republicans, according to CIRCLE, a Tufts University survey. The shift from 2024 occurred because of young voters’ frustrations about the cost of living.
Seventy-six percent of voters between 18 and 24 voted for Democrats, while 21% of the same age group voted for Republicans, according to a CNN poll. Sixty-eight percent of voters between 25 and 29 also voted for Democrats.
A Harvard Youth Poll found that young voters expected to be worse off financially than their parents for the first time in the poll’s history. Twenty-seven percent of respondents said they would be worse off, while 25% expected to be better off.
A majority, 63%, said their congressional vote was against Trump and his policies, according to the poll.

Trump made an effort to appeal to young men in 2024 by appearing on popular podcasts, such as “The Joe Rogan Experience” and the “Full Send Podcast.” Some of these podcasters criticized the Iran war, with Rogan arguing that the war contradicted Trump’s promise of “no more wars.”
