Lionel Messi lined up a free kick wide near the corner flag and curled the ball with his left foot over Patrick Schulte’s outstretched arms into the far top corner.
The goal came in the 33rd minute for Inter Miami CF against the Columbus Crew at ScottsMiracle-Gro Field in Columbus, Ohio, on Sunday, September 27, 2026, tying the score at 1-1 after Josef Martínez’s penalty opener in the 28th minute.
The Spanish-language broadcast called “Golazo!!!” Fans filmed the goal from the stands from multiple angles.
It was Messi’s 76th direct free-kick goal of his career across club and international football, two short of Marcelinho Carioca’s record of 78, his 21st MLS goal of the 2026 season, and his 12th direct free-kick goal for Inter Miami.
