Pastor Jerry Eze knelt down on Monday and apologised after tens of thousands were turned back from his prayer conference at Old Trafford the Saturday before.
Streams of Joy International filled Manchester United’s 74,000-capacity stadium for the free NSPPD UK Prayer Conference on 26 September 2026. Mercy Chinwo, Dunsin Oyekan, Sunmisola Agbebi and Kaestrings performed. Advance registration was required, yet the crowd still ran past what the ground could hold and stadium management made the call.
In the Instagram video he said the decision had not been his or the ministry’s. “Of course, you know me. It was beyond my control. If it was something I could influence, and you know it wasn’t something that streams of joy people could influence. It was the stadium people that did what they had to do.”
He had been reading the posts. “I want to sincerely, from the depth of my heart, apologize. Apologize to the tens of thousands of people who were turned back. Some people traveled very far from Australia, from North Macedonia, from Sweden, from different parts of the world to come. I felt so sorry.”
