Two mass shootings at entertainment venues in South Africa killed 27 people and wounded 26. In the first attack, gunmen killed 17 people and wounded 15 at a bar west of Johannesburg, reportedly searching patrons and taking cellphones before escaping in two vehicles. Police said the suspects may have been armed with AK-47 rifles and pistols; the motive is unknown. In a separate shooting at a venue in Lwandle, near Cape Town, 10 people were killed and 11 wounded. Police are investigating both attacks and searching for suspects, but have not said whether the incidents are connected.
