How to start a daily quiet time
For anyone who needs a calm daily anchor and finishes the day with a clearer head.

Quiet time is ten undistracted minutes alone with a book and your thoughts. The practice holds because one chair and one fixed hour remove the daily decision.
Have a sturdy chair, one reading book, a notebook, a pen, and a simple timer ready. Before you begin say out loud: timer on, screens out, feet flat, ten breaths, page open.
Link the slot to the hour right after you wake because that marker already exists. Place the timer where you can see the dial without turning your head. Press start the moment you sit.
Carry the phone to a counter at least ten feet away. Close any laptop and leave it shut. Walk back with only the book and notebook.
Rest hands palms-down on your thighs. Let the knees bend naturally. Shift until the shoulders drop before you close your eyes.
Inhale through the nose and exhale through the mouth. Count each full breath on your fingers. After the tenth breath open your eyes and reach for the book.
Raise the pages to eye level so the neck stays easy. Check the first heading to confirm the spot. If the mark is gone turn to the next short chapter and stay there.
Speak at a slow walking pace so each word lands. Pause after every sentence. Close the book when five minutes end and set it on the table.
The most common mistake
Most beginners stretch the first session past twenty minutes and then dread day two. End when the ten-minute timer rings and leave the chair at once.
Pro tip
Mark tomorrow’s page before you close the book so the next quiet time needs zero search.
