DHS Reveals The Zero Chance Reason New Caravan Cannot Enter U.S.

The Department of Homeland Security issued a stark warning. They said there is “absolutely ZERO chance” a new migrant caravan will enter the United States. This group is currently moving through southern Mexico. According to the Daily Wire, it left San Pedro Sula, Honduras, on Oct. 13.
The Warning and the Route
On Tuesday, the caravan departed Tapachula carrying approximately 500 to 600 people. Most are from Honduras, Guatemala, and El Salvador. The group originally traveled as “Sin Fronteras” before renaming itself “Fe y Esperanza.” This new name echoes a previous caravan that Mexican authorities dissolved earlier this month.
Reuters shared video of the group, prompting a response from DHS. “We will protect our borders — America is a nation, not an economic zone,” they stated. The agency also warned that anyone trying to enter illegally would be “apprehended, prosecuted, and removed from the country.”
According to the Daily Wire, U.S. Border Patrol is working with international partners to monitor the route. The department stated, “USBP reminds migrants that” while observing that the border remained closed and secure for the past 16 months under President Trump and Homeland Secretary Mullin.
What the Migrants Say
Some members of the group hope a Democratic win in the midterms could lead to a less secure border. According to Breitbart, many intend to posture near the U.S. border for this reason. The Washington Examiner reports that some in the group are migrants who were deported recently. They are trying to reenter the U.S. to reunite with family.
Video from Reuters shows families traveling on foot. One man pushed a young girl in a pink stroller while wearing a Honduras flag. Two men held a banner reading, “Fe y esperanza emigrar no es delito,” which translates to “Faith and hope: migrating is not a crime.”
Gabriela Macias, a Honduran migrant, spoke to Reuters. “The only thing we want is for the president of Mexico [Claudia Sheinbaum] to open the way for us so we can get ahead, to work as well,” she said. “We also ask President Trump to open the doors for us, right, because we are people in need, honestly,” she also inquired.
The Election Context
The caravan’s arrival comes just ahead of the midterm elections. According to the Daily Wire, this timing recalls the massive caravans that became a significant political flashpoint during the 2018 midterms. While President Trump has consistently supported strict measures against illegal immigration, certain members of his party have diverged from him. Rep. Maria Elvira Salazar (R-FL) said he’s “gone too far” regarding his deportation efforts.
Data shows a shift in asylum denials. According to the Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse, 94% of asylum-seekers were denied in June. This is up from 50% in June 2024. The group faces financial hardship and bad weather as they walk between cities in Central America. Some hope to reach Central Mexico to get formal refugee status.
