Fetterman Offers El Sayed $50,000 for 9/11 Rally With Piker

Sen. John Fetterman is making a bold offer to his Michigan rival. He proposed giving Abdul el Sayed $50,000 to host a rally on September 11. The event would feature left-wing streamer Hasan Piker. Fetterman made this offer on Fox News during a Wednesday broadcast. He wants to see if el Sayed will stand with Piker.

The senator laid out the terms clearly during the interview. Fetterman stated he was providing $50,000 for el Sayed to hold a rally with Hasan Piker and allow everyone to explain why America deserved that event. This comment references past statements by Piker regarding the 2001 terrorist attacks. Rep. Ritchie Torres has raised serious concerns about Piker’s history. Torres wrote a letter to Congress on Oct. 29, 2024, noting that Mr. Piker has demonized Orthodox Jews. Torres also quoted Piker as saying America deserved 9/11.

Fetterman is not stopping at the money offer. He added a second condition for more funding. For another $50,000, totaling $100,000, Fetterman challenged el Sayed to do a rally with his sister. He noted that el Sayed’s half-sister posted a video celebrating the Oct. 7 Hamas attacks. In that video, she said Allahu Akbar, without mentioning Jewish victims, according to the Washington Examiner. Fetterman argued that these are the people el Sayed supports. He stated that these are the people that he aligns with and the type of individuals who assisted him in securing the primary victory.

Abdul el Sayed has faced other scrutiny regarding his views on the United States. He once suggested on his podcast that people should move to Canada to achieve the American dream. During a May 2023 episode, he claimed the US dream is a lie. El Sayed argued that economic data shows success is twice as likely in Canada.

El Sayed recently defended Canada in a trade dispute with President Trump. Fetterman’s challenge puts el Sayed in a difficult spot before the Nov. 3 general election.

El Sayed has tried to distance himself from Piker recently. This comes after increased backlash from Democrats about the streamer’s views. Twitch CEO Dan Clancy addressed these concerns in a blog post on Nov. 1, 2024. He stated there is no place on Twitch for racism, hatred, or harassment of any kind. However, Fetterman’s offer forces el Sayed to make a choice. He must either reject the money and the company or accept the terms.
