Gwen Moore Calls Illegal Immigrants Her ‘Constituents’ at ICE Facility

The Visit That Defies Belief
Rep. Gwen Moore walked into an ICE detention center. She claimed the people inside were her “constituents.” The reality is a legal and logical mess.
On September 9, 2026, the Wisconsin Democrat posted a video from Leavenworth, Kansas. She said she went to check on her “constituents who are being detained.” She admitted the people inside were being treated well. But she could not figure out why they were there. Moms without criminal records and asylum seekers were how she labeled them.
The idea that illegal aliens are voting constituents is a lie. Moore has served in Congress since 2005. She should know the law. Anyone here illegally can be detained. It does not matter if they committed another crime. The law allows it. They were deported under Barack Obama while she was in office. She did not object then. Now she pretends to be confused.
A Math Problem for the Professor
Moore tried to paint a picture of greed. She claimed a private company makes $307,000 off each bed. She said profit drives ICE, not public safety. The numbers do not add up. She is wrong about the math.
According to RedState, CoreCivic expects about $60 million in annual revenue for the facility. The center has about 1,033 beds. That math does not equal $307,000 per bed. The company is paid to run the property. ICE pays the bill. That is not a profit for the government. It is a cost.
Moore also called these people her “constituents.” The term refers to voters or citizens. Illegal aliens cannot vote for her. They are not her constituents. They are not her neighbors in the legal sense. They are guests who overstayed their welcome. Calling them constituents is a political trick. It tries to make them look like voters.
The Common-Sense Contrast
While Moore makes excuses for illegal entry, others are drawing a line. Sen. John Fetterman crossed party lines to speak to Republicans. He did this at a GOP convention in Dallas on Wednesday. He stood with America. He rejected the extremes.
Fetterman told the crowd, “A big room of Republicans in Dallas. Yes, I’m Senator John Fetterman, Pennsylvania. Yes, I’m a Democrat.” He asked, “Why am I here talking to you today? Because, well, I’m a common-sense Democrat.” He said, “I’m always going to stand with America.” The anti-American lifestyle and socialism’s extremes will always be rejected by me.
Fetterman praised Sen. Dave McCormick. He called him a friend who gets the job done. Their friendship grew after a bitter 2024 Senate race. Fetterman supported the Democrat Bob Casey. He criticized McCormick as an outsider. But after McCormick won, Fetterman put the fight behind him. They met for dinner in Pittsburgh. They discussed working together for Pennsylvania.
The Cost of Harboring
The confusion in Washington is not just about words. It is about money. A Virginia county is spending taxpayer funds to help illegal immigrants. Arlington County is giving grants to families of those detained by ICE. The plan passed 4-0 on the board. One member was absent.
Arlington will set aside $50,000. They will give up to $2,000 per family. The money covers basic needs and utilities. The policy follows a major ICE operation. That operation netted 1,328 illegal immigrant arrests. Former acting ICE Director Jonathan Fahey called this “alien harboring.” He said the money enables people to stay in the country illegally.
Chairman Matt de Ferranti said the county values displaced families. But he admitted the law stops public safety from interfering with federal law.
