Kansas Democrat Hamilton Rejects Schumer But Takes His Millions

Dem Senate hopeful Adam Hamilton rejects Chuck Schumer but benefits from millions in spending by his allies. National Democrats are pouring $38 million into Kansas to support Hamilton, according to AdImpact. This money flows even though Hamilton argues he would not support Schumer as the party leader.
Senator Roger Marshall, the Republican opponent, questioned how Hamilton could accept this money without owing a debt. According to Marshall’s statement to Fox News, Hamilton could not receive $30 to $40 million from Chuck Schumer without owing him something. He warned that losing this seat would give Democrats control of the Senate.
The Money Flow in Kansas
Hamilton has raised nearly $14 million for his campaign, while Marshall has raised almost $6 million, per reports. The Senate Majority PAC, a group aligned with Schumer, spent $5 million on ads in Kansas earlier this month. Candidates cannot directly accept money from these independent groups under federal election law.
Hamilton’s team says he will always put Kansas first. Tyson Brody, who serves as a spokesperson for Hamilton, informed Fox News Digital that Marshall relies entirely on Washington money to rescue his campaign. The campaign argues Marshall has abandoned the state to support corruption in Washington.
Marshall’s Challenge on Leadership
Marshall has tried to tie Hamilton directly to Schumer during their final debate before Election Day. He stated that if Hamilton wants to denounce Schumer, the campaign should do so with Schumer’s money as well. “Look, we’re going to be outspent five to one, and we knew that,” Marshall said during a campaign trail interview.
The spending surge shows that Democrats believe they can flip this seat in a state that usually votes Republican. Hamilton’s campaign has pushed back against these claims, insisting his opposition to Schumer is genuine. They point out that national groups operate independently from the candidate’s own campaign efforts.
What the Numbers Show
Total spending from national Democrats and Hamilton’s campaign is set to reach $38 million. National Republicans and Marshall’s campaign are putting $32 million into the contest. This financial battle highlights the high stakes for both parties in a state that could decide Senate control.
Marshall emphasized that the outcome of this race matters more than the spending gap. Marshall stated to Fox News that losing this seat would result in Democrats gaining control of the Senate. The focus now shifts to how voters in Kansas respond to the money and the messages.
