Senator Susan Collins informed Fox News that no campaign has ever featured such a volume of blatant falsehoods. Two days prior to Maine’s Election Day, she issued this statement. A new poll shows her and Democrat Troy Jackson are tied at 49 percent. Collins says Schumer’s playbook relies on false ads about Jeffrey Epstein.
The Maine senator said she spoke to two colleagues in tough races who faced identical attacks. She noted one outrageous ad against her involved the Jeffrey Epstein case. Collins stated these ads were nearly identical to those running against other Republicans. She added that this pattern is part of Chuck Schumer’s playbook.
Collins Calls Out Nationalization Tactics
Collins accused Democrats of trying to shift focus away from local Maine issues. She said they want to turn the race into a divisive national political battle. “It’s certainly an attempt by my opponent and Chuck Schumer and their allies to nationalize this race,” she said. She believes the strategy ignores the real concerns of voters in her state.
She characterized herself as the most autonomous senator across both political factions. According to reports, her choices stem from her personal conviction of what is correct. She said she does not just follow who occupies the White House. She also claimed a false figure circulates that she voted with President Trump 95 percent of the time. She noted that a broader look at her record shows she voted against the president’s policies 138 times.
Alaska Senator Warns of Ballot Trickery
Alaska Senator Dan Sullivan warned of a scheme to recruit another man named Dan Sullivan. The New York Post reported he called this “Decoy Dan” a trick to confuse voters. Sullivan told CNN that their first order of business is to trick people in Alaska. He said they want voters to throw the vote in a way that is deceitful. “By the way, their scheme is working,” he said regarding the confusion.
The Justice Department is probing whether any laws were broken with the decoy on the ballot. A former Rep. Mary Peltola faces firestorm over ties to the recruitment effort. Her former campaign manager claimed Peltola was definitely aware of the plan. Sullivan said this treats the people of his state with utter disrespect. He vowed he will accept the election results regardless of the unfairness.
Final Hours Before the Vote
Collins expressed strong optimism, citing the favorable reactions she receives. She is visiting communities all over the state to meet voters. Previously, Jackson informed Fox News of his belief that he stands a good chance of victory. The race remains too close to call with less than 48 hours left.
Collins said many moderate lawmakers have given up and retired recently. She stated that she is running again because the Senate needs more centrists. She wants people willing to work across party lines to stay in Washington. The final outcome will determine control of the Senate for the next term.
