Trump Announces $90 Checks For 20 Million Seniors

The Plan and the Payment
Over 20 million seniors will receive $90 checks this month. President Trump made the announcement Friday. These funds come from the Medicare Improvement Fund. The fund was set up back in 2008. It sits there, unused, for years. Now it is finally in use. Eligible enrollees get the money via direct deposit or check.
Trump called the fund a “pointless ‘Slush Fund'” in the past. He said Democrats used it for waste and fraud. He claimed it drove up healthcare costs for everyone. Now the money goes to the people. The president spoke about it on Truth Social. He said, “We are finally using this Fund, along with my Most Favored Nations Deals, to substantially LOWER costs for our Seniors,” according to the New York Post. The checks help cover Part B premiums.
Who Gets The Money
Not everyone gets a check. The rules are clear. People whose premiums are paid by Medicaid do not qualify. Those who pay an Income-Related Monthly Adjustment Amount are also out. The rest of the 20 million seniors are in. This move follows a previous announcement. Trump said $500 checks would go to about 950,000 Obamacare enrollees. That group was overcharged by the Biden administration.
Trump made sure to separate these two groups. He noted the senior payment is “separate from the equally substantial Refund ‘Checks’ we are sending to One Million Americans who were overcharged for their Unaffordable Care Act plans by Joe Biden,” per the New York Post. He also promised a larger dividend. If Republicans win the Midterm Elections, he says a $5,000 dividend will go to every US citizen.
Football and Politics
Trump did not stop at the checks. He also talked about his weekend plans. He is heading to Alabama next Saturday. He will watch the game between Georgia and Alabama. He spoke at a rally in Mobile on Friday.
He also backed a Senate bill for college sports. The bill covers name, image, and likeness payments. Trump joked about Sen. Tommy Tuberville. Tuberville is a former coach running for governor. Trump recalled his doubts about Tuberville’s chances. “He was a great coach, but he had a problem. I said he can’t win,” Trump said. The reason? That streak happened from 2002 to 2007.
