Trump Reveals Preemptive Pardons Plan If Democrats Win Midterms

President Trump promised to issue preemptive pardons to his entire staff and allies if Democrats win the midterm elections. He told the New York Post that he is ready to act if they try to prosecute his team. The plan is a direct response to threats from Democratic leaders.
Trump spoke to reporter Miranda Devine on her “Pod Force One” show. He made his stance clear when she asked if he would use his power to stop these prosecutions. “I would if I needed to. Sure,” Trump said. He added that he has done this before. “I’d do it,” he said. “I did it for J6.”
The Biden Comparison
Trump pointed to former President Joe Biden as a precedent for this move. He noted that Biden used his final hours in office to pardon many people. This list included Dr. Anthony Fauci, Gen. Mark Milley, and members of the House Jan. 6 committee. Biden also pardoned his own son, Hunter. “That’s what Biden did. He gave everybody a pardon,” Trump said.
He called the committee that investigated the Capitol riots “the unselect committee.” Trump described it as “a corrupt committee.” He argued that his own team needs similar protection. He mentioned Pete Hegseth, who holds a role in his administration, as someone who might need this shield. The president believes his team faces unfair attacks from political opponents.
Democratic Threats
Democrats have made their intentions known in public events. Sen. Elissa Slotkin spoke at a University of Chicago gathering about her plans. She said a Democratic majority should prosecute “signature cases” against those who enable Trump. “I want that deterrence message sent,” Slotkin said. She stated that committees would pursue cases to “hold people accountable.”
Other lawmakers have echoed these warnings. Rep. Robert Garcia said in July that his party would investigate the Trump family for “corruption” if they win. Months later, Rep. Melanie Stansbury said Democrats would look into impeaching cabinet secretaries. Trump dismisses these threats as empty talk for now. “They won’t; it’s talk. But if it is talk, we’ll have to protect them,” he replied.
Protecting Key Allies
The interview touched on specific threats against business leaders. Devine noted that some Democrats want to target Elon Musk. She said, “They want to arrest Elon Musk, they want to seize his factories, nationalize SpaceX.” Trump was firm in his response. He said, “They won’t, it’s talk.”
He explained that his goal is to stop these actions before they start. Devine asked, “How do you do that? Can you preemptively pardon them?” The president confirmed he has the power to do so. He said he would not hesitate to use it. “I would not even think about it. I’d do it. I did it for J6,” he said. The promise covers everyone who worked for him. Breitbart and RedState also covered the details of this interview. The president’s message is simple: if the other side attacks, he will shield his people.
