A Steel Beam Returns to Washington
President Donald Trump will host a special event on September 8. The White House will welcome 9/11 first responders and officials. A massive piece of history is coming to the capital.
A 21-foot steel beam recovered from the World Trade Center’s South Tower will be on display. It weighs 16,900 pounds. The beam will sit on the White House Ellipse. This is the first time this specific tribute is happening there.
First responders will be joined by the president to renew our sacred vow that we will never forget. White House spokesperson Olivia Wales told Fox News Digital. She said the event honors the “unbreakable spirit of the American people.”
The Tunnel to Towers Foundation is bringing the beam. Their “Steel Across America” tour has visited 21 states. The foundation was founded by Frank Siller. He lost his brother, firefighter Stephen Siller, on that tragic day.
Plans for the Ceremony
Frank Siller, the foundation’s chairman and CEO, is expected to speak. He will stand alongside President Trump. The event focuses on the heroes who lost their lives.
Other parts of the day are set in motion. New York City will be visited by Vice President JD Vance. He will go to the World Trade Center site. Meanwhile, Trump will attend a ceremony at the Pentagon.
Administration officials will also represent the White House in Shanksville, Pennsylvania. All three locations targeted or affected by the attacks are marked by this. Last year, Trump and Melania Trump attended a commemoration at the Pentagon. They also issued a Patriot Day proclamation.
A Promise to Keep
Frank Siller previously told Fox News Digital about the importance of this mission. He stated that never forgetting the sacrifice and bravery of our nation’s heroes, as well as our lost loved ones, is a generational promise that every American can help keep.
The foundation does more than just honor the past. Families of fallen service members receive mortgage-free homes from them. They also work to combat veteran homelessness. This year, the group is honoring the 343 FDNY firefighters who died.
