AOC, Mamdani, Hochul Root For Buffalo Bills Sunday Morning in NYC

It sounds like the beginning of a joke at first — “A progressive congresswoman and socialist mayor walk into a bar …”
But that scenario played out Sunday as Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani (D) and New York Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) watched some football at Murphy’s Sports Bar in Queens.
AOC and Hochul showed up in their Buffalo Bills regalia as the team played the Baltimore Ravens on the other side of the state in Orchard Park, New York.
AOC donned a Bills shirt as Hochul sported a Bills letterman jacket, Bills cap, and what looked like a buffalo wing hanging from a chain around her neck. Mamdani, meanwhile, was in a black suit.
Ocasio-Cortez admitted she was more of a baseball and basketball fan, but that she was warming up to football.
“If you rewind the clock, when I played Tim Walz in Madden, the Bills were my team!” Ocasio-Cortez said. “I am newer to football, but the Bills were my team. Just check the receipts.”
The Bills defeated the Ravens, 36-10. The team is now 6-1 on the season.
Mamdani and AOC turning out for Buffalo stands out a bit, considering the New York Jets and New York Giants play much closer to NYC. The Jets and Giants play at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, which is about 9 miles from Midtown Manhattan, while Buffalo’s new stadium is 360 miles north.
