Biden to Attend 9/11 Ceremony at Ground Zero

Former President Biden will attend the 25th anniversary ceremony of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks at Ground Zero.

NewsNation confirmed the news Wednesday.

A spokesperson confirmed Biden’s attendance at the 9/11 site memorial event. This comes a little under a week after White House officials said President Donald Trump would commemorate the attack anniversary at the Pentagon.

Former Presidents Barack Obama, George W. Bush and Bill Clinton are expected to attend the Ground Zero ceremony, per NewsNation.

Past first ladies Jill Biden, Laura Bush and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton are also slated to be in attendance, the New York Times reported.

Next Friday marks the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, when 2,977 people were killed at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and on board a hijacked United Airlines Flight 93 that crash landed in Pennsylvania.

White House spokesperson Olivia Wales said Wednesday the president plans to honor 9/11 first responders and New York Fire Department officials at the White House on Sept. 8,.

The Times reported last week that Trump would not attend the ceremony in Manhattan because he was allegedly barred from delivering a speech. He has denied this.

The National September 11 Memorial and Museum has banned speeches from politicians at the ceremony since 2012.

Trump is due to speak at the Republican National Committee’s midterm convention in Dallas on Sept. 9 and 10. After speaking at the Pentagon on Sept. 11, the president will go to Ireland to attend the Irish Open at his golf course in Doobeg.

An insider told the Times that traveling overseas is easier if Trump departs from Joint Base Andrews in Maryland than from a commercial airport in New York or New Jersey.

Vice President JD Vance will attend the Ground Zero ceremony in New York City on behalf of the administration.
