Clancy’s Lawyer Hopes For Trump Pardon

Lindsay Clancy‘s attorney he hopes President Donald Trump will step in and pardon his client.

A mistrial was called last week when  jurors failed to reach an agreement in the case involving a mother allegedly killing her three children.

Kevin Reddington said in an interview with Good Morning America he hopes an agreement can be reached between prosecutors and the defense. He also hopes Trump will consider a pardon.

Clancy is charged with murder in the deaths of her three young children.

Prosecutors argue it was a premeditated crime; the defense says she was suffering from postpartum psychosis and is not criminally responsible for her actions.

Prosecutors have not decided whether they will retry the case.

After the mistrial was declared, Reddington indicated the jury was about to find Clancy not guilty by reason of insanity, but one juror who a holdout.

Prosecutors now have the option of retrying the case, making a plea deal or dropping the charges.

While Reddington suggested Trump could pardon his client, the president only has the authority to pardon those charged with federal crimes.

Clancy is on trial in Massachusetts on state charges.
