Fetterman Responds to Report by ‘Disgruntled’ Staffers

Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.) is fighting back on reports by former staffers that he brushed off meetings with a children’s hospital and paralyzed veterans.

The senator is calling these reports "smears." He is also getting support from his Pennsylvania colleague, Sen. Dave McCormick (R-Pa.).

Fetterman told CNN in a statement that "disgruntled" staffers concocted the story, which was first reported by the Wall Street Journal, to adversely affect his reputation.

"Per usual — lies, half-truths, innuendos, smears and anonymous," Fetterman said. "No matter how many smears or stories, I’m proud to continue to deliver for Pennsylvania.”

The report, published last week, alleged Fetterman wasmore interested in appearing on Fox News to discuss Israel than meeting with constituents. He also opted not to attend a funeral for slain police officers because it would have taken too long.

Even under this scrutiny, Fetterman has an unusual ally from the other side of the aisle.

"These stories are the latest example of outrageously disloyal staff and forces on the Left using anonymous leaks to cancel my friend John Fetterman," McCormick said on X. "They hate that he is an independent thinker who refuses to fall into line so they want to silence him."

The two launched a joint fundraising effort in July, called Common Ground PA, according to federal financial filings.

They were also together on Labor Day together, per a post from McCormick, where they toured Bell & Evans, a chicken processing company in Pennsylvania.

"He and I will continue to work together to deliver for Pennsylvania by saving jobs at US Steel, passing a new law to make housing more affordable, securing $600 million to replace the Delaware River Bridge, and delivering critical funding to protect Presque Isle State Park," McCormick said.

In the meantime, there has been some movement to oust Fetterman.

Rep. Chris Deluzio (D-Pa.) said Fetterman’s behavior was "pathetic," and "this man has no sense of duty."

It is not clear if Fetterman will run for reelection in 2028.

"He is not up for the high office he was elected to — and we in Pennsylvania will do something about it in 2028," Deluzio said on X.
