Doctors for Pope Leo XIV are saying the pontiff will not need further treatment for lung cancer.
Final tests confirmed the disease was localized, his doctors said Wednesday.
The tumor was removed Oct. 13 and was said to be lung adenocarcinoma, Dr. Luigi Carbone and Professor Stefano Margaritora said.
A subsequent cancer assessment confirmed that "no further treatment is necessary," the doctors said.
The findings followed testing of the removed tumor and an additional assessment of the pope’s need for further care.
