Singer Bruce Springsteen is supporting Michigan’s Democratic Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed in Tuesday’s midterm election.
“The Boss” described El-Sayed as a “fighter for our American Constitution” in a Monday Instagram post.
El-Sayed, who’s running against former Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Mich.), is a “fighter for our American Democracy, and he’s a fighter against the corrupt, lawless, and anti-American leadership currently in the White House,” Springsteen, 77, said.
“That’s why I’m in his corner 100 percent,” Springsteen, who is a vocal critic of President Donald Trump.
Springsteen’s support came a day after Rep. Haley Stevens (D-Mich.), El-Sayed’s former primary rival, shocked the political world with her surprise endorsement of Rogers.
Earlier this year, Springsteen performed as part of a nationwide concert tour that he said was “in defense of America.”
In his Land of Hope and Dreams tour, Springsteen said at the time, aimed to celebrate democracy and freedom, “which are under attack by our wannabe king and his rogue government in Washington, D.C.”
