President Donald Trump and UFC head Dana White are set to meet at the White House to discuss the prospect of White becoming the next White House press secretary.
On Saturday, Trump announced he offered the job to White. That same day, White said he plans to meet with Trump on Monday.
Trump posted on social media that he made the offer to “the Great Dana White, a violent Fighter and Warrior” to become the Republican president’s chief spokesperson.
White was in London on Saturday for a boxing event and said at a news conference he planned to fly to Washington right after and meet with Trump on Monday.
White was asked how he would balance this job with the current positions he has in the fighting world. White said, “Yeah, I got a lot of jobs already.”
He declined to say what conversations he’d had with Trump but said, “I’m sure I’ll have more to talk about after that.”
Before the news conference, White shared an image of Trump’s post on Instagram and included an image of himself standing behind the podium in the White House press briefing room with the words “On to the next chapter.”
Trump said in his post that he requested that White bring along several UFC fighters as “assistants.”
“We need these people to defend us against the Lunatic Left. Dana will be a Press Secretary like none other. Dana, please take the job!” the president wrote.
