DSA Socialists Win 50 Races, Sending 5 New Members To Congress

The Daily Wire reports that on Tuesday, the House gained at least five seats from the Democratic Socialists of America. This group now includes the largest bloc of socialists in Congress since 1910, per the Daily Signal. These winners didn’t just run; they unseated long-time Democrats.

One of these new members, Darializa Avila Chevalier, defeated the incumbent in New York’s 13th District. She is a community organizer.

A Record Influx Of Far-Left Winners

The numbers show a massive shift in the Democratic party. According to the New York Post, these midterm victories caused Socialists to more than double their ranks in the House. Melat Kiros took the top seat in Colorado, defeating a 15-term incumbent in the primary. Another winner, Claire Valdez, supported nationwide rent control and won 83.1% of the vote in New York. Chris Rabb trounced his opponent in Pennsylvania by a 93% to 7% margin.

DSA communications co-chair Aron Ali-McClory celebrated these wins with high hopes for the future. He posted on X: “I hope everyone can sit back and take it in tonight a little. At a base line, the socialists presence in Congress will soar to heights unseen in over a century”. The group plans to push for Medicare for All, free college, and a four-day workweek. They also want to abolish ICE, prisons, and the borders themselves.

Leadership Warns Of A New Threat

House Speaker Mike Johnson sees this change as a direct challenge to American safety. He noted that Ronald Reagan used to warn about communism as a distant threat across the world. One endorsed candidate, Chris Rabb, promised he would not be a rubber stamp for anyone. He said: “I am nobody’s rubber stamp…I’m committed to transformative change”. The DSA claims over 50 victories prove that socialism can win in the U.S. today.
