El-Sayed Breaks Silence Just As Sister Posts Prove Otherwise

Abdul El-Sayed told a national television audience that he and his family have no ties to the Muslim Brotherhood. His own half-sister posted social media messages saying their mother was an active member of that group. The contradiction is clear and documented in public records.

During a Sunday interview on NBC, host Kristen Welker asked El-Sayed directly about these connections. Your family has no ties, and neither do you. she asked, seeking a clear answer. El-Sayed replied with a simple, “No,” according to the New York Post.

The Denial on National TV

The candidate suggested his opponent was spreading false claims about his family background. He framed the questions as Islamophobic attacks rather than legitimate concerns for voters. This defense ignores the written record left by his own sister. The public deserves to know the truth about a candidate’s family history.

El-Sayed’s campaign spokesperson tried to shift the focus to his work as a doctor. They stated, “Abdul is a dad and a doctor.” According to the New York Post, he has dedicated his whole career to keeping Michiganders hea. This statement does not address the specific question about his family’s past activities.

What His Sister Wrote

Eman Abdelhadi, El-Sayed’s half-sister, posted messages on X in 2012 and 2013. In one post, she wrote: “Had an amazing talk with my mom about her activism in the Muslim Brotherhood during the early 70s while she was in college #respect,” according to the New York Post. Their mother, Fatten Elkomy, attended a university with strong Brotherhood activity.

Abdelhadi did not hide the family connection in her online posts. She wrote in 2012: “My family has long been MB, but I’ve always felt that it has navigated the political sphere poorly/destructively,” per the Daily Wire. The Daily Wire reports she stated in a 2013 post that family members were jailed for involvement.

Voters have a right to know if a candidate is lying about their background. The Egyptian chapter of the Muslim Brotherhood is now designated as a terrorist organization. The Washington Free Beacon reported these posts were resurfaced recently, as noted by the Daily Wire. A candidate who denies facts that his own family posted is a problem.

The El-Sayed campaign claimed that fact checkers have debunked the opposition’s claims. They told Fox News, “Independent fact checkers have repeatedly debunked Mike’s lies, but their campaign c,” according to RedState. The campaign statement cuts off before finishing the thought, leaving the defense incomplete.

Truth in politics requires more than a confident denial on a Sunday show. It requires consistency between what a candidate says and what their family has written. The documents show a direct conflict between El-Sayed’s words and his sister’s posts. This is not a matter of interpretation but of written record.
