Here’s What Trump Reveals About Iran’s Struggling Economy

The White House Stance

President Donald Trump stated that Iran is “doing very poorly” and will eventually “give up.” He made these comments regarding the ongoing conflict with the regime. The American people can see the pressure is working.

When asked if the situation was nearing a surrender, Trump replied directly. “They’re doing very poorly,” he stated, adding that while it is uncertain if they will surrender now, they eventually will. He also noted the conflict would end “very, very soon.” His main goal remains stopping Tehran from getting a nuclear weapon.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent confirmed the economic pressure is hitting hard. “Operation Economic Outcast has caused the rial to hit record lows,” Bessent wrote on Monday, according to Breitbart. He added that the U.S. will keep degrading the regime’s ability to fund terror.

The Currency Collapse

The value of Iran’s money has dropped sharply in just two days. The rial crashed past 2.5 million to the U.S. dollar on Tuesday. Just one day earlier, it had fallen to roughly 2.4 million. This is a massive shift from the 1.7 million rate seen before the war began in February.

Market trackers confirm the steep decline. Pashizi, a group tracking free-market rates, put the closing value at 2.548 million rials per dollar. This represents a huge fall since a deal collapsed in mid-July. Before the U.S. blockade took effect in late April, the rate was much stronger at 1.913 million.

Bessent said the blockade is now stopping all Iranian oil exports through the Strait of Hormuz. “Then they have nothing left to trade for anything,” he said, according to Breitbart. He estimated Tehran has only about two weeks of crude left to sell to China.

Shortages and Damage

Iranian officials are admitting to severe fuel problems inside their own borders. A government spokeswoman warned that supply issues could hit northern Iran this winter. “We suffered damage due to the attacks on the energy sector,” Fatemeh Mohajerani said. She noted that 230 million cubic meters were lost.

State media in Tehran already report long lines and closed gas stations. Over the last month, prices increased by as much as 100 percent. In September, fuel cut protests led taxi drivers across eastern Iran to strike. The regime even told government workers to take public transit to save gas.

One official claimed gas outages could last up to 90 days. The Iranian National Gas Company quickly called that estimate unofficial. Bessent said non-Iranian oil is now moving out of the Gulf at normal levels. The score for oil is clear: the U.S. has moved over one billion barrels, while Iran has zero.
