Eric Deters, the lawyer and political commentator behind the plan, confirmed the cancellation on Monday. The entire event vanished because just six people bought the tickets meant to pay for it all.

Patriots Day Freedom Fest was supposed to take place this Saturday near Cincinnati. The Washington Examiner reported that the free festival relied entirely on VIP ticket sales to cover its costs. Deters said he planned to sell one hundred tickets at $1,000 each to a specific group of regular contacts. He believed these regular supporters would step up to fund the show. Instead, the cash never arrived, and the show was called off. The Washington Times noted that the low sales forced the abrupt end to the plans.

Speakers lined up for the day included Dog the Bounty Hunter and Rep. James Comer. Kentucky Republican congressional nominee Ed Gallrein was also scheduled to speak. Washington Examiner columnist Joe Concha was set to join the stage as well. None of these big names performed because the money to put them on stage never came in.

Deters Blames the Wealthy

President Donald Trump’s lack of support did not cause the cancellation, Deters contested. He insisted the failure was purely financial and not political in nature. To demonstrate that the lot was previously full of crowds, he shared Freedom Fest images on Facebook. However, the lack of funds this time made the event impossible to run. According to the Washington Examiner, Deters stated the tickets were not purchased because of a “financial reason” He made a sharp comment about the wealthy supporters who failed to step up. “I want to tell you something, rich people, as a whole, suck,” Deters said.

He expressed deep frustration with the lack of action from his target audience of donors. “When I put together Patriots Day Freedom Fest, I put it together with the game plan and the idea that I could pay for it with VIP sales of $1,000 from these 100 people that I interact with on a regular basis,” Deters said. The gap between his plan and the reality of the sales was too wide to bridge. He declared he would not be organizing this type of event again.

Neither President Trump nor Kid Rock has responded to the news of the canceled event. The Washington Examiner noted that outreach to both figures yielded no statements. The story highlights a stark reality about funding large-scale conservative gatherings without a guaranteed donor base.
