Accurso joined New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s inaugural committee in December 2025. This appointment marked a clear turn toward hard-left politics. She appeared with the socialist mayor to push for free childcare and bus services. During the event, she sang “The Wheels on the Bus” to a classroom of children.

Since that moment, her content has focused on heavy political topics. She has championed gay rights and supported the case for slavery reparations. Her latest cause is the war in Gaza. According to the Washington Examiner, detractors argue she is echoing Hamas talking points. StopAntisemitism has called her “a mouthpiece for Hamas” for spreading specific claims about the conflict.

She circulated images of a Palestinian child who she claimed was starving. According to reports, the images were disproven and the child actually suffered from cystic fibrosis. The child’s mother told the Washington Post he was suffering from both conditions. This mix of truth and fiction confuses parents who trust her advice.

She repeats claims from anti-Israel sources while ignoring the suffering of Israeli victims.
