Obama’s Detroit Speech Backfires On Democrats
Former President Obama tried to save Abdul El-Sayed in Detroit. His speech exposed old healthcare lies and new Iran claims that hurt the Democratic ticket.

Former President Barack Obama told voters in Detroit that Iran is now in a stronger strategic position than before the war started. This claim comes directly from his recent speech. The statement contradicts reports that Iranian leadership has been wiped out and their navy sunk. It is a bold move that risks looking out of touch with current battlefield realities.
Obama traveled to Cass Technical High School to campaign for Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed. The race is tight, with Republican Mike Rogers holding strong ground in Michigan. Obama tried to shield El-Sayed from attacks about his faith and background. He argued that Democrats do not need to agree on every detail to share the same goals. Yet, his defense of El-Sayed stumbled when he defended his own healthcare record.
The Healthcare Hypocrisy
Obama faced a crowd that remembers the broken promise of keeping their doctors. This question ignores the fact that his plan forced many to lose their existing coverage. Obama called single-payer systems a radical idea that takes away private options. He cannot fix the past by calling current critics radicals.
The former president also mocked President Donald Trump for spending money on White House renovations. He joked that Trump should be on HGTV and accused him of grifting on the public dime. These claims distract from the real issue of a candidate who refuses to denounce the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. El-Sayed has not said which nation poses a greater threat to the United States.
A Dangerous Iran Claim
Obama’s comments on Iran stand out as the most dangerous part of his pitch. He stated that Iranian forces hold a stronger position now than before fighting began. This assertion flies in the face of reports showing their economy in shambles and their navy at the bottom of the sea. Such a statement gives enemy propaganda exactly what it needs. It undermines the confidence of American troops and their families. A leader who claims the enemy is winning cannot inspire voters to trust his party with national security.
He further faulted Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth for concentrating on the testosterone levels and jaw lines of troops. This attack ignores the serious work being done to strengthen the military. The former president tried to frame the election as a choice between serious leaders and grifters. But his own record on foreign policy and healthcare looks shaky under this scrutiny. He cannot claim to be the voice of reason while making claims that contradict the facts on the ground.
El-Sayed’s Tough Road
Abdul El-Sayed struggles to win over Black voters in his home state of Michigan. He has faced questions about his family’s connections. He flips out and gets defensive when reporters ask about these ties. The Washington Examiner noted that Obama tried to defend El-Sayed by calling him as Michigan as it gets. The former president listed El-Sayed’s local roots and his time as a high school football captain. These facts do not erase the concerns voters have about his foreign policy views. The race remains close ten days before Election Day.
Obama’s appearance was meant to shore up support for the Democratic ticket. Instead, it highlighted the deep divisions within the party. He admitted that Democrats will not agree on every issue but said they must stay united on values. This message falls flat when the candidate cannot answer basic questions about national threats. The former president tried to turn the election into a referendum on Trump’s spending habits. But voters are more worried about who can keep America safe and affordable.
