Trump Comments on Tiger Woods Suspension

Woods License Suspended

President Donald Trump voiced support for Tiger Woods. The golf legend faced a five-year suspension for his driver’s license. This penalty came after a no-contest plea deal with prosecutors. The deal involved a crash earlier this year that included DUI charges. Woods’s charges were reduced as part of the agreement with authorities.

Trump told reporters in the Oval Office about the situation. He said the golfer has used prescription painkillers for past injuries. The president called the plea agreement “very fair” regarding the facts. He explained that taking painkillers while in pain can cause issues.

Advice Given Long Ago

Trump shared a personal story about his advice to the golfer. He said he told Woods to get a driver “a long time ago.” The president noted that Woods will now have someone drive him. He stated, “I think he’s going to have somebody drive him.”

The president added that he asked Woods why he did not get a driver. He said, “Why don’t you get somebody to drive you?” Trump confirmed Woods will have a driver from now on. He described Woods as “a very special guy” to the press.

Trump said, “I’m glad. I’m glad that was resolved.” He noted the tough deal when taking painkillers under pain. He said the problem leads to a positive test result. The president emphasized the fairness of the legal outcome for Woods.

Royal Family Comments

The president also spoke about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. He said he is “happy” that they left the United States. They moved back to England after living in California. Trump told reporters, “I was not a fan” of the couple.

He criticized Markle for her behavior toward the late Queen Elizabeth. He also mentioned her treatment of King Charles. Trump said, “I thought they treated the royal family with great disrespect.” He added, according to the New York Post, “I didn’t like it. I didn’t like the way she acted.”

Trump felt she was “terribly disrespectful to the Queen, to King Charles.” He said he would not have welcomed them back if he were the family. He stated, “If I were the royal family, I would.” He also said, “I would not have taken him back.”

Trump has hosted King Charles and Queen Camilla for a state visit. This happened in April during his second term. Queen Elizabeth hosted him for a state visit in his first term. He called the royal family a rare double state visit for a president.
