Mary Trump, the niece of the president, has a message for President Donald Trump: âResign.â
Asked during an exclusive interview with ABCâs George Stephanopoulos what the âsingle most important thingâ that Americans need to know about Donald Trump, Mary Trump responded, âHeâs utterly incapable of leading this country.â
âAnd itâs dangerous to allow him to do so,â she added.
Asked later, âIf youâre in the Oval Office today, what would you say to him?â
She quickly answered, âResign.â

During the interview, Mary Trump was also asked about her claim in her new book, âToo Much and Never Enough,â that Donald Trump allegedly paid someone to take the SAT for him. She said she has been âtold this by people in my familyâ and that she is âabsolutely confident that itâs true.â
Asked a follow-up on how she knows the claim is true, she responded, âI trust my sources.â When then asked how her sources know, Mary Trump answered, âThey were alive at the time, so they have firsthand knowledge.â
âCan you prove itâs true?â Stephanopoulos continued to press, to which Mary Trump said, âNo, because Iâm counting on people I trust who told me this story. So in terms of documentation, no, I canât prove it.â
In response to Mary Trumpâs interview, the White House referred ABC News to a previous statement, âMary Trump and her bookâs publisher may claim to be acting in the public interest, but this book is clearly in the authorâs own financial self-interest.â
The statement continued, âPresident Trump has been in office for over three years working on behalf of the American people â why speak out now? The President describes the relationship he had with his father as warm and said his father was very good to him. He said his father was loving and not at all hard on him as a child.â
