First lady Melania Trump issued a challenge Tuesday.

Students in grades K-12 were invited to take part in the  the Presidential AI Challenge — a nationwide contest developed to encourage students to work together to use artificial intelligence tools to solve community issues, the Associated Press reported.

“As someone who created an AI-powered audio book and championed online safety through the Take It Down Act, I’ve seen firsthand the promise of this powerful technology,” Melania Trump said in a video announcing the challenge. “Now, I pass the torch of innovation to you.”

“Just as America once led the world into the skies, we are poised to lead again,” she added. “This time, in the age of AI.”

Students will complete a project by using an artificial intelligence method or tool to address challenge in their community.

According to Michael Kratsios, director of the White House science and technology office, the possibilities are endless for this contest.

“We want to have America’s youth plugged in and working on and using AI tools,” he said Tuesday on “Fox and Friends.”

Registration is currently open.

An adult mentor or teacher needs to sponsor a team. Submissions are due by the end of December.

Regional competitions will be held in the spring. A White House event with the national winners will follow, Kratsios said.

Both President Donald Trump and the first lady signed the Take It Down Act in May.

The signed an executive order calling for the contest to advancing artificial intelligence education for youth in the U.S.

In May, Melania Trump announced the audio version of her 2024 memoir, “Melania,” was “narrated entirely using artificial intelligence — in my own voice.”
